Mobility Scooter Ramps for loading scooter into car

How to get a Mobility Scooter into a Car - Mobility Scooter Ramps

After purchasing a mobility scooter many wish to ensure they can get this in and out of the car, whether this is to attend hospital appointments or take a day out to the seaside. The weight of the scooter often means it cannot easily be lifted into the vehicle and therefore a mobility scooter ramp, boot hoist or lift is often required.

How to Choose a Mobility Scooter Car ramp

Before you beginning shopping for a scooter ramp, we recommend you check the below:

What is your load height (the vertical height from the ground to where the ramp will rest)? This is important to know to ensure you get the right length ramp for your needs.

What gradient can your scooter climb? We recommend checking the user manual for this. For loading an empty electric scooter or wheelchair we recommend a 1:33 gradient.

What is the maximum weight you will be loading, for example the weight of the mobility scooter.

Do you plan to load an empty scooter or will you be in the scooter at the time? If you plan to be in the scooter you will require a longer ramp to ensure a safe gradient, for example a 1:8 gradient.

Would you like a ramp which is fixed into your vehicle or a portable folding ramp?
