How To Load Cars Onto Vehicles and Into Containers

How To Load Cars Onto Vehicles and Into Containers

Easily load your car into containers, up kerbs and into a van with our extensive range of car ramps. Customisable solutions available. Solutions for classic cars and sports cars.

Transporting cars can be tricky, especially if you have a sports car or classic car with low ground clearance. It is important to ensure the ramps allow you to load your car safely and do not cause any damage to the car during loading.

What To Check Prior To Purchasing Car Ramps?

Your load height (vertical height from the ground to where the ramp will rest)

The maximum weight you wish to load (weight of car + driver + fuel + any weight in the car)

Clearance of the car - for low ground clearance we recommend longer ramps

Ramp connection type required - how will the ramps connect to the container or vehicle?

Aluminium Car Ramps

The Ramp People’s aluminium Car Ramps are perfect for heights up to 600mm. They are provided in lengths up to 4m and can hold capacities up to 2900kg across the pair. The ramps are only 40mm thick making them perfect for loading up low heights.

The aluminium loading ramps are perfect for loading cars up kerbs, steps, into containers and onto vehicles. Their length ensures a smooth gradient is provided, preventing damage to classic cars and sports cars with low ground clearance.

The TUV certified ramps are customisable. The standard connection is a rest on connection, ideal for Flat-beds and Tipper Trucks. Alternative connections are available, for example the hook connection which is ideal if you are loading onto a beaver tail trailer.

Rubber & Plastic Kerb Ramps – For Loading To Heights Up To 150mm

For loading up heights up to 150mm, we provide Rubber and Plastic Kerb Ramps which are provided with fixings for tarmac and concrete to allow you to secure these to the ground.

The ramps are provided with channels to allow you to pass cables below them. The ramps include an anti-slip surface making them perfect for loading.

Quantity discounts are available on our kerb ramps.

The 100mm and 150mm rubber kerb ramps can be purchased as a single, pair or kit, allowing you to cover the width of the kerb if required. They include embedded light reflectors for high viability. They have a capacity of 40,000kg making them perfect for loading cars, vans and HGV’s up kerbs.

We recommend measuring your kerb prior to purchase, the standard kerb height is 100mm.

For a smoother gradient, we recommend viewing our Rubber Kerb Ramps with a 1:10 gradient.

In terms of fixing the ramps to the ground, you do of course need to gain the landowners permission prior to doing this.

Wheel Risers

Wheel Risers are a perfect, lightweight solution for lifting car up heights of up to 215mm. Easily raise your car to undertake the required car maintenance.

The ramps are perfect for cars with low ground clearance due to their smooth gradient. The non-slip grip surface ensures stability during loading. The grid design allows water and dirt to easily flow through and off the ramps.

Wheel Stops & Parking Blocks

Prevent damage to your vehicle during parking by placing parking blocks within the bay to alert the driver of their location within the parking bay. The parking blocks are perfect for preventing potential collisions with walls, posts and other hazards by the parking bay.

The parking blocks include high visibility stripes to alert drivers and pedestrians of their presence. The durable rubber wheel stops are provided with fixings for tarmac and concrete to allow these to easily be secured into place. Please do of course gain the landowners permission prior to secure a wheel stop/parking block.

Sizes range from 550mm -2000mm.

The Ramp People also stock a wide range of road safety & traffic calming equipment, including wheel stops, flow plates and speed bumps which can be viewed here: https://www.theramppeople.co.uk/road-ramps
