Essential Bathroom Aids for a Safer Home
Essential Bathroom Aids
Bathroom aids are essential for supporting users with disabilities, limited mobility, the elderly and those recovering from surgery.
Maintaining personal hygiene is essential to stop the spread of germs and boost mental well-being and self-esteem.
Bathroom mobility aids are designed to assist users in the bathroom and shower, reducing the risk of slips and falls and ensuring the bathroom remains accessible.

Introduction to our Guide
Bathrooms are often seen as a relaxing place. For those with disabilities and those recovering from surgery, avoidance of these areas often occurs due to the risk of slips and falls.
There are many bathroom aids available to help you make your bathroom a safer, more accessible environment. Many of the mobility aids are affordable and do not require bathroom alterations.
Bathroom and shower aids are often lightweight, allowing them to easily be moved when needed to allow you to clean around them. Designed for use in a variety of homes and by a variety of users, they are generally adjustable in size to allow you to ensure the mobility aid supports your needs. They also of course have been designed for use in wet environments and offer slip-resistant surfaces.

In the UK, there is support and funding available for those who need bathroom aids. Depending on your abilities, you may be eligible to receive bathroom aids through the NHS. We suggest speaking to your Occupational Therapist (OT) or GP.
Local councils can also undertake assessments and look to provide equipment and adaptations when needed. You will need to speak to social services at your local council to arrange a needs assessment.
