Car ramps are an essential piece of equipment to help you to easily load cars and vehicles into containers and up kerbs. European guidelines recommend loading vehicles at a maximum gradient of 30% however, when loading cars you often will require a smoother gradient if your car has low ground clearance, for example for classic cars and sports cars.
How To Load Your Car Safely
When loading your car up heights, it is important to have someone with you to help to guide you up the ramps. Ensure the steering wheel remains straight and drive slowly while loading the car. Try not to stop and start the car as this can burn out the clutch, making safe loading more difficult.
What To Check Prior To Purchasing Car Ramps
Your load height - the vertical height from the ground to where the ramp will rest
The maximum weight you wish to load - you will need to check the weight of the car, normally we recommend adding around 200kg to this weight to account for any fuel, weight in the car and operator
Where the ramps are resting on to - we have 4 connection options available, the most popular is the rest on connection
The cars clearance - for low clearance vehicles you will require longer ramps
Ramp Options
Our Aluminium Car Ramps are available in lengths up to 4m. They are suitable for load heights up to 600mm and are provided with capacities up to 2900kg. The ramps are only 40mm thick, making them perfect for loading up low heights. The ramps are TUV certified and customisable. There are 4 connection options available, the most popular is the rest on connection which is ideal for Flat-beds and Tipper Trucks. Alternative connections are available, for example the hook connection which is ideal if you are loading onto a beaver tail trailer.
The ramps are perfect for loading cars up kerbs, into containers and onto vehicles. They are provided as a pair and the price on the website is for the pair. These ramps are perfect for loading cars with low ground clearance, such as sports cars and classic cars.

Kerb Ramps - Kerb Ramps allow users to easily load vehicles up heights of up to 150mm and capacities up to 40,000kg, depending on the kerb ramp chosen. They are provided with fixings for tarmac and concrete. There is also a channel provided to allow you to pass a cable below the ramp if required. The kerb ramps are sold in singles and pairs, kits are available for the 100mm and 150mm heights. The kerb ramps are generally steeper than the aluminium car ramps so may not be suitable for vehicles with low ground clearance.
The kerb ramps include an anti-slip surface making them perfect for loading. We recommend measuring your kerb prior to purchase, the standard kerb height is 100mm.
Quantity discounts are available on our kerb ramps.

Wheel chocks are perfect for preventing your car from rolling whilst parked, or during maintenance. All wheel chocks have a maximum capacity so please ensure to select the wheel chock which is suitable for your vehicle.
We have rubber and plastic chocks available, in a variety of colours to ensure high visibility. The anti-slip surface provides additional security, moreover a chain can be used for further security. The wheel chock should be placed in the centre and squared with the tyre. It is recommended that you use a pair of wheel chocks to ensure the vehicle is secured safely.
Wheel Stops / Parking Blocks- Prevent damage to your vehicle during parking by placing parking blocks within the bay to alert the driver of their location within the parking bay. The parking blocks are perfect for preventing potential collisions with walls, posts and other hazards by the parking bay.
The parking blocks include high visibility stripes to alert drivers and pedestrians of their presence. The durable rubber wheel stops are provided with fixings for tarmac and concrete to allow these to easily be secured into place. Please do of course gain the landowners permission prior to installing a wheel stop/parking block.

Car Ramps Buying Guide
Car ramps are essential to help you easily, and safely load your car or van over steps, onto your driveway, into a trailer or into container for safe storage.
This guide covers everything you need to know before buying a car ramp. We’ll explore the pros and cons of different types, key features to look for, and what to check before making a purchase. Whether you need a rubber kerb ramp for your driveway or lightweight aluminium ramps for a low-clearance car, you’ll find the right solution here.

What To Check
Measure the vertical height you are going up, for example from the ground to where the end of the ramp will rest.
Check the usable width available and the width of your car or van and tyre width.
Check the weight of the vehicle and consider any additional weight it will be carrying.
Tips & Recommendations
EU guidelines recommend a maximum gradient of 30% when loading vehicles; however, many cars require a gentler incline or slope, especially those with low ground clearance. Classic cars and high-performance sports cars, such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches, are well known for their low clearance. These vehicles typically need a much smoother gradient to safely climb a ramp and avoid damage during loading.
For low-clearance cars, we recommend completing our car ramp form and sending it to our team, please contact us for the form. Once received, we’ll run a CAD simulation to determine the exact ramp length you need and ensure you purchase ramps that are perfectly suited to your vehicle.
Things to consider
For vehicles with low clearance, it’s important to select a ramp with a smooth gradient to prevent damage during loading.
Rubber ramps generally rest in front of the step, while aluminium ramps rest on the step or trailer. For aluminium ramps, 4 connection options are available.
For occasional use, portable ramps are ideal. Fixed rubber kerb ramps are available if you plan to regularly load or unload your vehicle.
Aluminium car ramps can be up to 4m long and do not fold, so consider the storage space available in your garage or on your van.
For portable ramps, check the ramps total weight and consider who will be lifting and putting the ramp in place before use, some of the rubber ramps are quite heavy.
Choose a ramp with an anti-slip surface for optimum grip. If used at night, you may want a solution with reflectors for added visibility.
For vehicles with low ground clearance, aluminium ramps are typically the most suitable option. They offer a smoother, more gradual gradient than rubber ramps, reducing the risk of scraping or damage during loading. Available in a variety of lengths, aluminium ramps are versatile and can be used to load cars onto vans, trailers, containers or car showrooms. Manufactured in Italy, these ramps can be customised if required.
In contrast, rubber ramps provide a cost-effective solution designed primarily for creating smooth transitions over kerbs, driveway entrances, and container thresholds. Their durable, weather-resistant construction allows them to remain outdoors year-round. Along with loading cars, rubber ramps are also commonly used for loading motorbikes, ride-on mowers, and trailers.

Care & Maintenance
- Car ramps require minimal upkeep and can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. Always remove oil, grease, mud, and similar substances from the ramp surface. In addition, clear away any debris such as rocks or stones to ensure safe loading.
- We recommend regularly inspecting your car ramps for signs of damage or wear. If you notice any concerns, contact the manufacturer for advice to confirm the ramp is still safe to use.
- Do not continue to use a car loading ramp if it is damaged.
Assembling, Positioning & Use
- These aluminium ramps simply rest onto the container or trailer. Each ramp features an angled foot designed for the load height, ensuring it sits securely on the ground during loading. As standard, the ramps have a rest on connection and a pre-drilled hole allowing them to be secured in place during loading. The rest on connection is ideal for flat bed vehicles, steps and containers. Alternative connection options are available. For example, if you are loading onto a beaver tail trailer a hook connection is normally recommended.
- The rubber kerb ramps simply rest in front of the step, kerb or container. The ramps weight and pressure of the vehicle ensure they stay securely in place. The heavy duty kerb ramps are offered with pre-drilled holes and fixings for tarmac and concrete if you wish to secure the ramps in place.
- Always read the full product specification prior to use, if you have any questions contact the supplier.
Use Car Ramps Safely in the Workplace and Public Areas
- When ramps are used in the workplace, it is essential to carry out a health and safety assessment and a risk assessment. These assessments should be reviewed annually or whenever changes occur to ensure ongoing compliance and safety.
- The car ramp risk assessment should identify hazards and risks relating to the ramps and implement controls. For example, the assessment should look at where the ramps will be used and how safe it is to use the ramps in the area. Consider who else will be near the ramps at the time of loading and ensure they are trained to safely load the car. When a car is being driven up or down the ramp, it is important to drive slowly on the ramp and keep the area clear of pedestrians to prevent collisions. When used in wet conditions additional care should be taken. If you plan to leave the ramps in place, depending on the location it may cause a potential trip hazard so steps such as signage could be used to mitigate this.
- It is important that anyone using the ramp has read and understands the car ramps specification and any instructions provided with it to prevent incorrect use.
- The safe working load (SWL) of ramps should be clearly visible, for example a sticker can be added on the side of the ramp to display this.
- Where employees will be lifting and moving the ramp, companies should act in line with Manual Handling Operations Regulations and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER). It is also important to consider wearing PPE when lifting and moving the ramps.
