Half Steps - Premium GRP Surface
For those struggling to overcome steps, kerbs and doorways at home and in the workplace a half-step is often the perfect solution! Half steps are designed to make heights more manageable for the users, in a sense bridging the gap between the floor and the doorway. Half steps are a popular solution for those with limited mobility including those recovering from injuries, the elderly and those with limited mobility. Half steps can also help to increase confidence for those who have previously had slips or falls due to steps.
The Ramp People offers an adjustable half steps which are available in two colours and two sizes. The steps can be used without legs at an 80mm height or, when the adjustable legs are attached, the half step can be adjusted to heights between 105mm - 120mm.
Our premium half steps are suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can be left outside. For confidence, the GRP open-mesh grip surface is self-draining and is rust resistant and corrosion resistant to ensure the platform lasts for many years. A 2 year warranty is offered with all of our half steps.
We are often asked whether someone should buy a half step or a wheelchair ramp. This does depend on the persons circumstances as there are benefits to each product and it is important the user feels comfortable in the chosen option. For example, if you are currently using a walking aid but feel you will use a wheelchair in the future a wheelchair ramp is likely to be a better investment as it can be used for walking up or going up in a wheelchair. Half steps are only available for lower heights and therefore for higher heights, or a set of steps, a ramp is likely to be more beneficial. We do also provide wheelchair ramps with handrails to assist those walking up the ramps. Half steps may be preferred where space is limit and there is not room for a wheelchair ramp or where you are overcoming smaller heights. Depending on abilities, some do simply prefer, or feel safer, using a half step rather than a ramp whilst for other individuals they feel safety walking up a ramp.
