Heavy Duty Loading Ramps for Plant Machinery

Here at The Ramp People we offer an extensive range of heavy duty aluminium loading ramps, perfect for loading plant machinery into your van or trailer including diggers, excavators, dumper trucks, ride on mowers and more. Our loading ramps are available in lengths from 1.5m to 5.5m. As standard they are provided with a rest on connection however we do have alternative connection options available such as a hook connection.

Which Loading Ramp Length Do I Require?

To identify the ramp length you require you will need to measure the vertical height from the ground to where the ramp will rest, this is your load height. As a general rule, you will need to times the height by 3.33 to identify the minimum ramp length you require. For example, if you are going up 60cm, you will need a 2m long ramp. All of our plant ramps state the minimum and maximum load height they are designed for. The foot of the ramp is cut an an angle so it is important not to exceed the recommended load heights as the ramp will not sit securely on the ground.

The recommended load height is based on EU guidelines for loading. If you are loading an item with low ground clearance, such as cars, forklift or scissor lifts, you are likely to require a longer ramp to provide a smoother gradient. For vehicles and machinery with low clearance we suggest contacting us with your load height and the items specification so we can find a suitable solution for you or provide a bespoke solution.

If you are loading at lower heights, such as into containers or over steps, we do have specific ramps designed for cars and forklifts

What Capacity Should I Choose?

All of our aluminium loading ramps have been TUV certified to the stated capacity, so there is no need to purchase a set of ramps with a capacity higher than you require unless you feel you will later require a higher capacity.

When selecting the ramp capacity, it is important to consider the weight of the vehicle you are loading, the driver, and any items the vehicle may be carrying. Note, often when you look at the technical sheet the item weight as it is when you buy it. For example, if you purchase a digger often the weight stated does not include the weight of any fuel the digger is carrying or items such as the digger bucket.

The ramp capacity does vary based on your wheelbase, as mentioned on our product pages. To check your wheelbase look at the vehicle from side view, the distance between the centre of front wheel and rear wheel (rim centre) is your wheelbase.

What Connection Option Should I Select?

We offer a choice of four connection options; rest on, hook, tube and bottom hook. The most popular connection, and the standard connection we offer, is the rest on connection. The rest on connection is perfect for flat-bed vehicles and tipper trucks. The connection has a pre-drilled hole to allow you to secure the ramp to your vehicle during loading. For beaver tail trailers a hook connection is usually recommended.

What Safety Features Do The Ramp People's Loading Ramps Have?

All of our plant ramps are TUV certified. The ramps are provided with a connection to ensure they remain securely on your van, trailer or steps. The rest on connection has a pre-drilled hole to allow you to secure the ramps during loading. The foot of the loading ramps are cut at an angle to ensure the ramps sit securely on the ground during loading. This provides stability whilst providing smooth access onto the ramp. The surface of the ramps are designed to provide optimum traction when loading plant machinery. The ramp weight and angle also helps to ensure the ramps stay in place. All of our loading ramps are provided with a safety manual to ensure you and your team are able to use the ramps safely. As the ramps are produced from aluminium they are designed to be as lightweight as possible; most ramps can be moved into position by one or two people.

Which Loading Ramp Surface Should I Choose?

At The Ramp People we offer a range of aluminium loading ramps designed for rubber tracked machinery, wheels and steel tracks. For loading items with rubber tracks or rubber wheels, we suggest our aluminium loading ramps. For optimal grip in muddy and wet weathers, you may wish to view our Sabretooth Range which offer a R13 slip resistance surface. If you are loading steel tracked machinery such as steel rollers, you will need to view the aluminium ramps with a rubber coating or the milled surface ramps.

Do The Ramp People Offer Customised Loading Ramps?

Yes, all of our aluminium loading ramps for plant machinery are made in Italy and can be customised to your requirements. We can offer various customisations including amending the length or width of the ramps, designing the ramps for a lower load height to provide a smoother gradient and adding handles on the ramp. We reguarly provide custom solutions for customers, whether you are seeking to allow a scissor lift to overcome steps, wishing to load a vintage tractor into your trailer or your seeking to allow a digger to cross a trench.

If you require a custom solution, please contact our team with details of your load height, what you are loading and the maximum weight of the load. Where possible, please also provide the item's data sheet.

For advice on selecting the most suitable loading ramp for your requirements, please contact our team via phone, chat, WhatsApp or email hello@theramppeople.co.uk.
