Expandable Barriers

What are expandable barriers used for?

Expandable barriers are used as a temporary solution to restrict access in various environments. They are used in a variety of commercial settings including in shops, businesses, warehouses, offices, construction sites and at events. Barriers may be used in shops to mark off hazardous areas, for example, if a spillage occurs. In offices barriers are often put when cleaning is being undertaken to prevent workers from walking on wet floors or to highlight that cleaning is being undertaken. During events expanding barriers are often used to restrict pedestrian access to certain areas for security and safety. The portable barriers are also often used at construction sites when work is being undertaken to highlight risks and restrict access. At warehouses, expandable barriers are often put up when loading and unloading is occurring or where machinery is in use.

Can the portable barriers be used outside?

Our Extendable Heavy Duty Safety Barrier on Wheels, red expandable barrier and yellow expandable barrier on wheels are all suitable to be used indoors and outdoors. The red expandable barrier can be filled with water or sand to weigh the barrier down and keep it securely in place.

How long can expandable barriers extend?

We offer a range of expandable barriers which extend up to 4m in length. We also offer various interlocking barriers to allow you to connect multiple units together to cover your required area size.

How to the expanding safety barriers stay in place?

Various extendable barriers have security features to ensure they stay in place once positioned. For example, the heavy duty safety barrier features a brake to securely lock in into place. It also has a locking mechanism to prevent people from opening the barrier and closing the barrier. Our plastic yellow expandable barrier on wheels also offers a brake function whilst our red expandable barrier has a hole to allow you to fill it with water or sand to weigh the barrier down, in turn helping it remain in place.

Can extendable barriers be used for crowd control?

Yes extendable barriers can be used to manage crowds at events, concerts and festivals. The barriers are designed to be highly visible to crowds and can easily be positioned in place when needed.

Are the expandable barriers easy to store?

Yes the barriers are designed to be compact when stored. Various barriers also include carry handles to allow them to easily be lifted and moved.

Do you have to use the barriers at the fully extended size?

No, you can used the expandable barriers at any size from their minimum to maximum size.

Delivery information & receipt of goods

We’re committed to ensuring your order arrives on time and in perfect condition. To help us do that, please check your delivery address is correct on your invoice and let us know right away if anything needs updating. When your order arrives, we recommend signing for it, only if you’re happy with its condition. Your satisfaction is very important to us!

Delivery time frames

Our deliveries usually take place between 9:00am and 6:00pm, and someone will need to be there to sign for the order. Most of our Next Day Delivery orders (placed before 3:00pm) arrive the following working day, but as much as we try, we can’t always guarantee it. If you need something urgently, contact us at: hello@theramppeople.co.uk - We’re dedicated to ensuring you’re completely satisfied with both our products and service.

If your order is going out on a pallet, the cut-off time might be a little earlier (usually midday) because of courier collection times. Give us a call or email to double check. Please also make sure someone’s available to receive the delivery, as missed pallet deliveries can lead to extra charges.

Item incorrect or damaged on arrival

Upon delivery, please do not sign for the goods unless you are happy with the condition of the product.

We take pride in our service. If something arrives incorrectly or damaged, we’re here to put it right. Before signing for your delivery, please ensure you're happy with the condition of your item. If there’s a problem, contact us right away at 01372 569051. For damaged goods, please email a photo to hello@theramppeople.co.uk so we can sort things quickly. We’ll verify your order and arrange prompt delivery of the correct item, along with collection of the original if needed. Refunds or replacements will be processed once we’ve received and checked the returned items.

Faulty items

If your item is faulty or develops a fault, we’ll do everything we can to resolve the issue efficiently. Please refer to our warranty terms in our Terms & Conditions for full details. If the fault is confirmed and the item is within warranty, we’ll arrange a repair or replacement. If you need a quick replacement, we recommend placing a new order - your refund will follow once the faulty item is returned and assessed.

Items that cannot be cancelled or returned

While we aim to be flexible, a few items are non-returnable due to their nature or regulatory requirements.

Products marked as “built to order” or customised.
Personalised items or those made to your specification.

How to return your item

As the customers, you are responsible for arranging the return of any items to us. You are welcome to use a courier service of your choice; many of our customers find comparison websites such as Parcel2Go helpful for finding competitive delivery rates. We recommend choosing a tracked service for peace of mind and retaining proof of delivery until your return has been fully processed. Unwanted items should be sent back to our address marked 'Returns Department'.

Please download, print and return our completed returns form below and return this along with your item. If you do not have access to a printer, you can simply write the required details out from the form on a piece of paper.

What is the difference between the various aluminium expandable barriers?

The aluminium barriers expand up to 4m, depending on your chosen barrier. Some of the barriers offer reflectors for visibility at night, whilst others simply have orange markers to reduce trip hazards. If you wish to use the barrier in low light or at night, we would suggest choosing a barrier with reflectors.

I understand the barriers are interlocking. How easy is it to connect multiple barriers together?

The barriers can easily be connected in a matter of moments with the locking device and key provided.

Can the barriers be used in high-traffic areas?

The barriers are designed for pedestrian areas only, they are not designed for vehicle traffic nor have they been tested to withstand vehicle impact.
