Available in two sizes and with adjustable height handrails, the half step is perfect for providing support when overcoming higher steps and doorways. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, the step is provided with two anti-theft brackets to allow it to be secured to the ground.

What is the benefit of a half step?

A half step often makes it easier for those with limited mobility to overcome steps, doorways and entrances. The half step can assist to breaks down the height different between ground level and the door threshld into two more manageable heights.

Half steps can also help to increase the confidence of users who have previously had difficulties to overcome steps and heights. In some instances half steps are used where space is limited and therefore it is not possible to install a ramp. Please note the half step is not suitable for mobility scooters and wheelchair users so please do consider who will be using the half step.

Where can the half step be used?

The Ramp People's half steps are suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can be left outside.

Is it safe to use the half-step in wet weather?

All of our half steps are suitable for indoor or outdoor use, including wet weathers. Our half steps offer a GRP open mesh surface which is highly slip resistant and suitable to be used in all weathers. The step is also self draining. Please do of course take caution in wet or icy weathers and consider your own abilities. The Adjustable Mobility Step with Handrails also offers a self-draining surface.

Is VAT relief available on half steps?

As a mobility aid the half step is eligible for VAT relief for those with long term disabilities and charities. When you add the item to your basket enter your details in the VAT relief box to remove the VAT.

What warranty is available on the half steps?

The half steps are provided with a 1 or 2 year warranty, please see the individual product for the warranty provided.

Should I purchase a half step or wheelchair ramp?

This does depend on your requirements, abilities and the space available. If you are unsure our team is available throughout the week to provide technical advice and guidance based on your situation.

A ramp is often preferable for businesses as it makes the business accessible to more users, including those using wheelchairs and mobility scooters. For homes, a half step may be preferred where space is limited and a ramp is not viable or for smaller height differences where you are seeking to simply make a step more manageable.

What heights can the half step be used at?

Please see the individual half step product pages for the minimum and maximum height they can be used at as it varies depending on your chosen product.

What is the GRP surface?

GRP stands for Glass Reinforced Plastic, it is an extremely durable but light surface. GRP is renowned for being able to withstand poor weather conditions and to last for many years. In addition GRP is corrosion-resistant.

I am unsure whether to purchase the step with handrails, can handrails be added at a later date?

Yes, if you are purchasing a half step which is compatible with handrails the handrails can be purchased separately at a later date, please contact our team for a quote.

Can the half steps be secured to the ground?

If you wish to secure the half step to the ground please view the half steps which are offered with or without handrails (Adjustable Half Step with Handrail or Adjustable Mobility Step with Handrail), these have fixing points to allow you to secure the steps to the ground.

Can rollators be used on half steps?

Yes, some half steps are suitable for rollators, you will need to view the extra large half steps and check your rollator size to ensure suitability.

Pre-Easter Delivery Cut-off Notice

To ensure your orders arrive in time for Easter, please note that our cut-off time for pre-Easter delivery using our standard delivery option is 2:00 PM on Tuesday, 15th April. Orders placed after this time will be delivered after the Easter break.

Delivery time frames

Our deliveries usually take place between 9:00am and 6:00pm, and someone will need to be there to sign for the order. Most of our Next Day Delivery orders (placed before 3:00pm) arrive the following working day, but as much as we try, we can’t always guarantee it. If you need something urgently, contact us at: hello@theramppeople.co.uk - We’re dedicated to ensuring you’re completely satisfied with both our products and service.

If your order is going out on a pallet, the cut-off time might be a little earlier (usually midday) because of courier collection times. Give us a call or email to double check. Please also make sure someone’s available to receive the delivery, as missed pallet deliveries can lead to extra charges.

If there’s a problem, contact us right away at 01372 569051. For damaged goods, please email a photo to hello@theramppeople.co.uk so we can sort things quickly. We’ll verify your order and arrange prompt delivery of the correct item, along with collection of the original if needed. Refunds or replacements will be processed once we’ve received and checked the returned items.

Faulty items

If your item is faulty or develops a fault, we’ll do everything we can to resolve the issue efficiently. Please refer to our warranty terms in our Terms & Conditions for full details. If the fault is confirmed and the item is within warranty, we’ll arrange a repair or replacement. If you need a quick replacement, we recommend placing a new order - your refund will follow once the faulty item is returned and assessed.

Items that cannot be cancelled or returned

While we aim to be flexible, a few items are non-returnable due to their nature or regulatory requirements.

Products marked as “built to order” or customised.
Personalised items or those made to your specification.

How to return your item

As the customers, you are responsible for arranging the return of any items to us. You are welcome to use a courier service of your choice; many of our customers find comparison websites such as Parcel2Go helpful for finding competitive delivery rates. We recommend choosing a tracked service for peace of mind and retaining proof of delivery until your return has been fully processed. Unwanted items should be sent back to our address marked 'Returns Department'.

Please download, print and return our completed returns form below and return this along with your item. If you do not have access to a printer, you can simply write the required details out from the form on a piece of paper.

I am interested in the Adjustable Mobility Step, can I purchase an additional handrail at a later date?

Yes, if you are unsure whether you require a single or pair of handrails you can always contact us later to purchase an additional handrail.

How easy is it to assemble the Adjustable Mobility Step?

We would suggest watching the video and reading the instructions. The feet can simply be screwed into place. If you wish to secure the step to the ground, you will need a drill, screwdriver, raw plug and 5 x 50mm screw (not provided).

How do the handrails stay in position?

The handrails securely bolt to the side of the step using pre-drilled holes. The adjustable feet can be positioned at the base of the handrails for additional security.
