Some purchases may be eligible for VAT relief, meaning you won’t need to pay VAT on qualifying items
for example:
- Wheelchair Ramps
- Threshold Ramps
- Mobility Aids (Rollators/Wheelchairs/Half Steps)
Who can claim VAT exemption?
You may qualify for VAT exemption if: The purchase is being made by or on behalf of someone with a long-term illness or disability, and the item is for their personal or domestic use. The order is placed by a UK-registered charity supporting individuals with disabilities.
When VAT exemption may not apply.
We’re committed to helping make accessibility products more affordable. However, VAT exemption is only available in specific cases. You may be required to pay VAT if: The purchase is made by a VAT-registered business, even if it's intended to support a disabled person. The product is for general or shared use (rather than for a single individual), unless it's being bought by a registered charity. The need is related to a temporary condition, such as a short-term injury.
How to apply VAT relief to your purchase
It’s quick and simple to apply for VAT relief. Once you have added a qualifying product to your basket, a VAT relief form will appear on the right of your screen, complete the form and click the 'apply VAT relief' button. You can then either continue to the checkout or continue browsing the site.

Wheelchairs
What are wheelchairs used for?
Wheelchairs are designed to assist those with limited mobility or who are unable to walk.
What is the difference between a transit wheelchair and a self-propelled wheelchair?
Transit wheelchairs are designed for those who will be assisted, for example a caregiver will be pushing the wheelchair. Transit wheelchairs generally have smaller rear wheels. Self-propelled wheelchairs are designed for those who will operate the wheelchair themseleves without assistance.
What should I consider when choosing a wheelchair?
- What seat width do you require? Generally you measure the user's hips to identify the required seat width.
- Do you requiring a folding wheelchair? If you plan to transport the wheelchair in the car or store it in the home a folding option may be preferable.
- Would you like the armrests to be adjustable? Adjustable armrests can provide additional comfort and reduce strain for those sitting in the chair. The adjustability also allows users to maintain a better posture.
- Do you require swing away leg rests? Swing-away leg rests can easily be moved out of the way, allowing the user to easily be transfered in and out of the wheelchair.
- Do you need a transit or self-propelled wheelchair? Transit wheelchairs are preferable if the user will be assisted whilst a self-propelled wheelchair is preferable for those who will be operating the wheelchair themselves.
- Is the weight of the wheelchair suitable for the person who will need to move it? If you plan to fold, lift and transport the wheelchair we recommend checkiing the weight is suitable for the person who will be lifting the chair, for example into the car.
- Is the width of the wheelchair suitable? We suggest checking the total width of the wheelchair is suitable, for example if you plan to use the wheelchair in and around the home we suggest also checking the width of your doorways.
Can wheelchairs be purchase without the VAT?
Those with long term disabilities and registered UK charities can purchase the wheelchairs VAT exempt. On our website there is a simple VAT exemption box to complete to allow you to remove the VAT from your purchase.
Which brands of wheelchairs are available?
We offer a range of manual wheelchairs from leading brands, including Rehasense, Drive DeVilbliss and Invacare.
Are wheelchairs required to meet any regulations?

The majority of our wheelchairs are produced from aluminium however there are also steel options. Please view the individual product listings to check the material type.
What maintenance do wheelchairs require?
It is recommended that wheelchairs are reguarly checked for damage and wear. Before each use the brakes and tyres should be checked. Wheelchairs should be kept clean, generally this can be done by simply wiping the wheelchair with a damp cloth or duster. Depending on the wheelchair you purchase, annual servies may be recommended.
