What height should a walking stick be?

Measure the vertical height from the ground to your wrist joint, the walking stick should be set to this height to allow for a slight elbow bend when using the stick. Where you plan to use the stick outside, we suggest measuring with shoes on to check the required height. When using a walking stick the user should be able to maintain an upright posture. If you are unsure on the most suitable height for you we would recommend speaking to your doctor, Occupational Therapist or a physiotherapist.

How do you adjust the height of the HurryCane 2 Comfort walking stick?

The HurryCane 2 Comfort can be adjusted to 8 different heights. Simply push in the metal locking button and slide the stick up or down to select your preferred height. Once it's at the desired height, the button pops out into a pre-drilled hole to lock it securely in place.

Are walking sticks available to purchase VAT exempt?

Yes, as a mobility aid those in the UK with long-term disabilities and registered charities do not need to pay VAT on these products. When you add the item to your basket, our VAT exemption box will pop up. Simply enter your VAT exemption details, such as your full name and disability, in the box to remove the VAT charge from your purchase. You do not need to be registered disabled you simply need a long-term condition.

Who are walking sticks used by?

Walking sticks are used by various individuals with a range of conditions, including those recovering from physical injuries, those with long-term disabilities which affect the leg or back and those who struggle to maintain balance.

How should a walking stick be used?

If you are planning to use a walking stick, we recommend speaking to your doctor or Occupational Therapist for specific guidance on how best to use a walking cane based on your abilities. In general, if the walking stick is being used due to a weak or painful leg, the walking stick should be held in the hand opposite to that of the weak leg. It is recommended by the NHS that you place the stick forward first, then your weak/painful leg and then your other leg.

How often do the tips of the HurryCane 2 Comfort require replacing?

The HurryCane 2 Comfort has 3 tips on the base of the walking stick. In general, these require replacing every 6 months; however it does depend on use. Replacement tips are available to purchase on our website.

Can the HurryCane walking stick be customised to my requirements?

Unfortunately we do not offer customisations of the walking stick.

Delivery time frames

Our deliveries usually take place between 9:00am and 6:00pm, and someone will need to be there to sign for the order. Most of our Next Day Delivery orders (placed before 3:00pm) arrive the following working day, but as much as we try, we can’t always guarantee it. If your order is going out on a pallet, the cut-off time might be a little earlier (usually midday) because of courier collection times. Give us a call or email to double check. If there’s a problem, contact us right away at 01372 569051. For damaged goods, please email a photo to hello@theramppeople.co.uk so we can sort things quickly. We’ll verify your order and arrange prompt delivery of the correct item, along with collection of the original if needed. Refunds or replacements will be processed once we’ve received and checked the returned items.

Faulty items

If your item is faulty or develops a fault, we’ll do everything we can to resolve the issue efficiently. Please refer to our warranty terms in our Terms & Conditions for full details. If the fault is confirmed and the item is within warranty, we’ll arrange a repair or replacement. If you need a quick replacement, we recommend placing a new order - your refund will follow once the faulty item is returned and assessed.

Items that cannot be cancelled or returned

While we aim to be flexible, a few items are non-returnable due to their nature or regulatory requirements.

Personalised items or those made to your specification.

How to return your item

As the customers, you are responsible for arranging the return of any items to us. You are welcome to use a courier service of your choice; many of our customers find comparison websites such as Parcel2Go helpful for finding competitive delivery rates. We recommend choosing a tracked service for peace of mind and retaining proof of delivery until your return has been fully processed. Unwanted items should be sent back to our address marked 'Returns Department'.

Please download, print and return our completed returns form below and return this along with your item. If you do not have access to a printer, you can simply write the required details out from the form on a piece of paper.
