Are they suitable for electric wheelchairs & mobility scooters?

We do not recommend bridge ramps for electric wheelchairs or mobility scooters as they tend to have very low ground clearance & a long wheelbase which means as they cross the underside catches & they can become stuck on the ramp. If you have a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair we would recommend a rubber threshold ramp on either side of the door or our rollAble ramps which can lay over the top of the threshold to create a bridge ramp. 

How wide are they?

Most of our bridge ramps are about 70cm wide so that they are narrow enough to fit in door frames but still wide enough for a manual wheelchair.

Can they be used on uneven rises?

We recommend bridge ramps for even heights otherwise one ramp will be steeper than the other which is not comfortable to cross & could cause the ramp to move during use. For this situation you can use either our adjustable threshold ramp or drive in ramp. Alternatively you can place a rubber threshold ramp on either side of the doorway. 

How can I ensure the ramp does not come into contact with the threshold? 

The bridge threshold ramp up to 75mm has legs/supports to prevent the ramp and preventing it touching the threshold. Other bridge ramps do flex and may come into contact with the threshold, we would recommend checking your doorway is suitable prior to use. 

Can I leave the ramp in place?

As the ramp is placed in the doorway, you will be unable to close the door while the ramp is in place. Our folding drive in ramps can be left in place as it has a fold-up tail which can be moved to allow the door to close.

How can I purchase the rubber threshold ramp VAT exempt?

Yes, all of our wheelchair ramps can be purchased VAT exempt. VAT exemption is available if you are disabled or you are purchasing on behalf of someone on is disabled, for example a friend or family member. Charities can also purchase VAT exempt. When you add the ramp to the basket there is a VAT exemption box, we simply require the name of the person the ramp is for and disability. If this is for a charity, please provide the charity name and charity number.

Item incorrect or damaged on arrival

Upon delivery, please do not sign for the goods unless you are happy with the condition of the product.

We take pride in our service. If something arrives incorrectly or damaged, we’re here to put it right. Before signing for your delivery, please ensure you're happy with the condition of your item. If there’s a problem, contact us right away at 01372 569051. For damaged goods, please email a photo to hello@theramppeople.co.uk so we can sort things quickly. We’ll verify your order and arrange prompt delivery of the correct item, along with collection of the original if needed. Refunds or replacements will be processed once we’ve received and checked the returned items.

Faulty items

If your item is faulty or develops a fault, we’ll do everything we can to resolve the issue efficiently. Please refer to our warranty terms in our Terms & Conditions for full details. If the fault is confirmed and the item is within warranty, we’ll arrange a repair or replacement. If you need a quick replacement, we recommend placing a new order - your refund will follow once the faulty item is returned and assessed.

Items that cannot be cancelled or returned

While we aim to be flexible, a few items are non-returnable due to their nature or regulatory requirements.

These include:

• Products marked as “built to order” or customised.
• Personalised items or those made to your specification.

How to return your item

As the customers, you are responsible for arranging the return of any items to us. You are welcome to use a courier service of your choice; many of our customers find comparison websites such as Parcel2Go helpful for finding competitive delivery rates. We recommend choosing a tracked service for peace of mind and retaining proof of delivery until your return has been fully processed. Unwanted items should be sent back to our address marked 'Returns Department'.

Please download, print and return our completed returns form below and return this along with your item. If you do not have access to a printer, you can simply write the required details out from the form on a piece of paper.

Customers are responsible for any returned goods until they reach our warehouse as stated in this returns policy. None of these terms or conditions affect your statutory legal rights.

Once your item has been returned to our warehouse, please allow 1–2 working days for inspection. If the item’s condition matches the agreed terms, we will issue a credit note via email. After the credit note has been sent, please allow up to 7 days for the refund to be processed.
